Interview: Bobby Jaycox

jaycoxToday’s interview is with one of my favorite people on the planet. His positive energy is truly contagious and unstoppable. If you haven’t seen him stand on a stage and tell jokes – or sit on a curb and talk about relationships – you’re missing out big time. He loves. He laughs. He fights (fires).

Meet Bobby Jaycox.

What is your name?
My name is Robert Jaycox. I prefer Bobby. Sometimes I think Bert would have been a solid choice too.

How long have been a non-vegan?
I have been non-vegan all my life. I will probably stay this way too. I assume I will have children who will call me closed minded and be upset that someone could live their whole life narrow minded when it comes to food.

Why have you decided not to be vegan?
I never decided not to be vegan. I was born this way.

Where do you get your protein?
I get my protein in many if not all the forms. Things that had moms are just super tasty. (It’s fun because that sentence might make someone super uncomfortable).

What vegan food do you fear you’re missing out on as a non-vegan?
I would have to look a vegan meal up on the World Wide Web to even know which one I would be missing out on. I can’t name one.

Do you eat fish? You eat fish, right?
I do eat fish. Recently I have been eating more tuna and salmon because I am trying the Paleo diet, a.k.a. caveman diet. If you were wondering, it’s not going great (Bobby rubs gut).

jaycoxdogAre there any animals in your life, such as pets or funny neighborhood squirrels? Tell us a story about them.
My pet is my black lab named Roxie. She is super chill and loves meeting new people and smelling their crotch and butt areas…in case you’re wondering, we frown upon it but what can you do? She was recently diagnosed with diabetes, which bummed me out. When I found out, my dad and I got very drunk and sad. I slept right next to her that whole night. I love my black dog.
Also, funny you should ask – we did have funny neighborhood squirrels, two actually. My little bother named the squirrels Cruncher and Muncher.

What do you do for fun besides eating meat and dairy?
Beside consuming animals I enjoy performing stand up comedy; it’s my passion. I also enjoy firefighting, high fiving, improv, the color black, Harry Potter things, Story of the Year and beer.

Do you have any upcoming projects you want to plug?
In the future I have and always will have dates I am performing stand up. You can find them mostly posed on my Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine and any new popular social media networking system that may come about. I am also the head monologue writer and performer on the new live show called STL Up Late.

Make up a question of your own and answer it.
Bobby, what is your favorite food to eat after you have just recently attended a funeral of someone you didn’t know so well but attended to be supportive of someone who the deceased was very close to?
Well, Bobby, I would like to answer that question with a question…shouldn’t you already know this answer since you asked it?
Well, yes Bobby, but isn’t this more for the readers?
That’s obvious, Bobby, so why even ask that?
Because Lisa asked us to ask ourself a question did she not?
…Yeah, but I still don’t see the point except to basically set ourselves up to share whatever we wish to the readers…and did you start that last sentence with “because?” Did we ever learn in school what instances that’s okay to do?
(This literally goes back and forth for eternity in some reality)
